Welcome to the Sumner County Historical Society web site. Few Counties in the United States have a history as important to our country and as interesting to our citizens as Sumner County.
From Native Americans here as early as 6,000 B.C continuing to the explorer-hunters and early pioneers who paid for the establishment of our county and state with their blood.
It is our hope you find our site to be both informative and entertaining and invite you to come back soon to explore our contents which will be continually expanded.
We dedicate this site to the memory of Walter Durham and in appreciation for his contributions to Sumner County and Tennessee.
